Fenomena Munculnya Pulau Baru Pascagempa M 7.9 Di Maluku

Sebuah pulau kecil muncul di laut desa Teinema, kecamatan Wuar Labobar, kabupaten Kepulauan Tanimbar, Maluku, pasca gempa berkekuatan 7,5 magnitudo mengguncang wilayah tersebut, Selasa (10/1). Video kemunculan pulau kecil itu pun viral di media sosial.

Menurut Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG), kemunculan pulau tersebut merupakan fenomena alam biasa yang dikenal dengan istilah kemunculan gunung lumpur atau sering disebut sebagai “mud volcano”. Gunung lumpur (mud volcano) seperti yang terjadi di Tanimbar disebut muncul di permukaan beberapa saat setelah terjadi gempa kuat.

A small island emerged in the sea of Teinema village, Wuar Labobar sub-district, Tanimbar Islands district, Maluku, after a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck the area, Tuesday (1/10). The video of the small island has gone viral on social media.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), the emergence of the island is a common natural phenomenon known as the emergence of a “mud volcano”. Mud volcanoes such as those in Tanimbar sometimes appear on the surface after strong earthquakes.
